Julie Marable, APN, WHNP
As a child, Julie Marable always knew she wanted to be a nurse when she grew up. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Illinois-Urbana in 1999 and began her journey in the nursing profession. After moving to Chicago, Julie became a labor and delivery nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Chicago where she worked for 6 years. It was there that her passion for women’s health care was unveiled. It was also there where she met Dr. Carlos, who was a resident at the time. While working at St. Joe’s, Julie made the decision to go back to school and she received her Master of Science in Nursing degree at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been a licensed Advanced Practice Nurse and Certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner since 2006.
After working side-by-side with Dr. Carlos for several years at St. Joseph Hospital, it seemed only logical for Julie to take the next step and accept the opportunity to join Lakeview Women’s Health, which she did in 2006. Julie and Dr. Carlos work together to provide comprehensive care to all patients. She feels blessed to work for such an amazing practice with a physician with whom she shares similar beliefs and values. Together they strive to empower and educate women of all ages and ethnicities.
Julie believes that nursing is not what she does, but who she is. She prides herself in providing holistic, thorough, evidence-based care to her patients. She is licensed to independently evaluate and treat patients in the office setting and perform certain in-office procedures, such as IUD insertions, colposcopies, and endometrial biopsies. She can perform virtually all of the services that Dr. Carlos offers in the office; however, as a nurse practitioner, she is not licensed to perform surgery or deliver babies.
Julie resides in Chicago with her husband, Terence. Their first child, Mason, was delivered safely into the world by Dr. Carlos in September 2009.
